Voting Right’s

Those who are members of The Social Democrat Alliance’s (Samfylking) southwestern district, and are eligible to vote, may vote in their district’s primary elections. Voters must be registered in The Social Democrat Alliance before 6:00 pm on 10 March 2009.

If you are not a member of The Social Democratic Alliance but are eligible to vote in the southwestern district primary you may still vote by registering as a supporter before 6:00 pm on 10 March 2009. It will be possible to register on the website samfylking.is -exact dates to come later. To be eligible to vote in the party’s primary you must have legally registered your domicile with the National Registry (Þjóðskrá) before Sunday, 1 March 2009. You will need to produce ID when voting.

Absentee ballots
If you are out of town, do not use a computer, or just prefer to vote the old-fashioned way, you may vote at the Samfylking office in Kopavogur or Hafnarfjörður between 4:00-6:00 pm on the 12th and 13th of March. Voter’s assistance will be available.
